Granny's Fruitbread

An homage to my beloved granny Angela 



Oma (how I call her) used to make this fruit bread (Früchtebrot) every Christmas when I was a kid. I didn't fancy it too much back then but once I grew up I cannot resist this fruity, nutty and utterly delicious bread.

All you need:

For the dough:

  • 75g sugar
  • 150g flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Citrus juice and zest
  • Cinnamon

For the filling (100g each):

  • Walnuts
  • Hazelnuts
  • Almonds (peeled)
  • Orangeat
  • Zitronat
  • Candied ginger
  • Figs
  • Dates
  • Apricots
  • Dates
  • Raisins

How to:

Mix all ingredients together and place in the baking tray. Bake at 180 degrees for 1.5 hrs.
